From an early age, I have loved to draw, but in my final year at school, I lost confidence in my artistic abilities due to my art teachers' flippant and somewhat disregarding attitude to my work.

I didn't pick up a pencil for a few years after leaving school, but in 1985, I became passionate about Formula One motor racing. My passion for this sport inspired me to pick up a pencil and try to draw an F1 car.

For this, I used a basic HB pencil, and I was so pleased with the result, I tried another. Then another. All of my attempts came out much better than I had hoped, so I then experimented with colour pencil. Again the results were better than I had hoped.
